Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) August 2024

My journey with UYH has been nothing short of magical.

During a short trip in Ubud, UYH caught our eye with its tucked-away sanctuary-like environment and organic reviews that felt like it was going to be a less commercialised studio.

My very first class was Nicole’s 9 am Vinyasa (little did I know it was gonna be one of dozens to come!). Her class was absolutely amazing, I remember thinking to myself that it was the best class I’ve ever experienced in my years of going in and out of yoga. Her sequence had a natural flow, and her high energy demeanour undoubtedly lighted up the room, but the key for me was her empathy as she observed keenly and adjusted sequences/tips according to the profile of the class each time. She truly embodied the mantra “yoga for every body”. It wasn’t until later on when I understood that her expertise was the fruition of both her natural talent in teaching, as well as years of hard work behind the scenes in honing her craft. The best part is, I would later realise that Nicole was a representation of the team of extremely talented teachers at UYH.

I came across the Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) students after the class and was keen but wasn’t sure when I’d be able to set aside a month for it. Nicole left me with the message “When you’re ready, you’ll know”. I kept it in mind.

Little did I know, an opportunity came by just a few months later and I joined the Aug 2024 YTT.

Looking back, I deeply appreciated how genuine the teachers/staff were, and the personas of those whom the studio attracts.

It was clear from the start that the focus was on the precision/flow/mastery of the asanas, in-depth introspection/connection with the self, and finding alignment between the body and mind. It was less of the ‘voo-voo’ stuff, as one may say.

Trainers are evidently very experienced, and there was a good mix of expertise amongst them across vinyasa, Iyengar, yin, and restorative, and each of them taught exactly what they were experts in. Theoretical (study of yoga) and anatomy classes were in-depth and well customised to the needs of the classroom as well.

I believe in choosing the right studio that suits your tastebuds, and for me, it was definitely the right choice to do this with Ubud Yoga House.

If you’re considering a YTT with UYH, or just curious to learn from an ex-student’s POV, I’m happy for you to reach out personally and I can share more.
