Lucinda discovered yoga in 2015 as a sanctuary to help cope with burnout and mental health challenges and discovered so much more about life through the philosophical learnings and deeper understandings of her teachers.
After completing her 200hr YTT in Australia in 2017, Lucinda furthered her studies in Kids Yoga, Pre/Postnatal and Fascial Bodywork which expanded her passion and curiosity for how we can improve our relationship with our body.
Lucinda has co-facilitated teacher trainings, retreats and immersions creating space for students to embrace a ‘soft but strong’ approach to their practice and daily life.
Intertwining her knowledge from a university degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Lucinda loves to teach anatomy from a place of enquiry and wonder, encouraging the way we move on and off our mat to come from an intentional and embodied practice.

YOGA ALLIANCE SYLLABUS
Yoga Practice: 100 hours:
Daily yoga practice and exploration of different styles of yoga including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Yin, & Restorative yoga. The basic yoga poses and yoga styles will be explored and practiced with hands on teacher adjustment for proper alignment and appropriate ways to modify yoga postures using blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets
Teaching Methodology: 25 hours:
Based on sound educational research & pedagogy, Sheila’s 30 years of teaching experience, and highly qualified teachers at the Ubud Yoga House, students will explore finding their teaching voice, the qualities and skills of a good teacher, how to create a “safe” learning environment, appropriate language for instruction and how to sequence a yoga class for Every Body with the use of hands on adjustments and props.
Anatomy & Physiology: 20 hours:
Students will study anatomy and physiology as it relates to yoga in an interactive fun way with hands on demonstrations making it easy to understand the basic anatomical structures. Anatomy is studied in the context of yoga and how yoga postures tone the muscles, tissues, ligaments, and joints and help maintain healthy bones. This knowledge will be applied to optimize yoga practice and avoid injuries. Students will learn the benefits of yoga and its effect on the functioning of various internal systems including respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive, excretory, reproductive, and hormonal systems. Beyond the physical body students will also examine the energy body exploring chakras, meridians, mudras, mantras and breath-work.
Yoga Philosophy: 30 hours:
The history, meaning, purpose, & philosophy of yoga will be studied through readings, films, video clips and lively interactive discussions. Students will study the basic philosophy of yoga focusing on the primary aim of yoga, which is to join the mind and the body through physical postures and meditation in order to know our inner self. The goal of yoga is harmony between the body, mind and spirit (authentic self). Students will study the 8 limbs of yoga which include the study of morals and ethics, physical yoga postures, breathing and meditation techniques.
Practicum: 10 hours:
Students will begin teaching the basic standing, seated and reclining postures during the first few days with a focus on two or three specific postures each day. Students will have the opportunity to begin “small” by teaching one posture at a time and gradually building up to teaching a one hour class to the teacher training students.
Electives: 15 hours:
Reading, self practice, writing, etc. Hours accumulated outside of teacher training hours as ‘non-contact’ hours.

This YTT course was everything I needed and more. We were a small group of women, all ages, color, walks of life and **levels of yoga.** I learned almost as much from my gorgeous peers as I did from the gifted yoga teachers training us. The straightforward lesson plans were very strategically executed to quickly lead up to more challenging material without the students realizing it. I was very impressed with the way hand/head stand poses were taught – never having done poses in this category, I didn’t expect to successfully achieve several before midday with such ease – and being/feeling completely safe. This topic was further supported with an anatomy class in the afternoon.
There was perfect balance between learning and breaks, physical activity and lectures, new information and reviewing. The staff is just phenomenal.. one of the reasons I decided to sign up for the course is because of Nicole’s cuing.. I was able to do her entire class with my eyes closed without being over cued!! Nina’s motivation, sense of humor and down to earth vibe, was everything; she truly embodies that yoga is for every*body* and I now feel confident identifying which body part is causing a student to struggle with a particular pose and how to accommodate. Sandy’s alignment classes tremendously improved my personal practice – and Katut somehow made my hamstrings more flexible in under 30 seconds?? Still trying to back track how he did that..
We were exposed to vinyasa, hatha, yin, and restorative yoga and well as meditation, breathwork and sound healing. We explored Yogic traditions, history and how yoga is used as medicine.
Each of us were able to teach an hour sequence by the end of the course! We were given the freedom to be creative with our presentation, pace, explore our own cuing voices and felt comfortable in our ability to adjust students vocally/physically into correct alignment.
Breakfast was provided for us at a nearby café with fresh organic ingredients and fruits every morning -
The setting of our training was UNREAL - a beautiful house with an upstairs shala overlooking the green rice field terraces, giant butterflies flying in and out, tropical flowers, and a pathway decorated with a row of bright yellow Balinese ceremonial umbrellas. As the YTT takes place in Bali, the course honors Balinese culture which made it extra special; beginning and closing training with ceremonies in traditional Balinese attire, throwing a mandala made of flowers into the air.. I loved and value every minute of this training and would hop straight back into a second course if it were offered.

I just finished my 200-hour yoga teacher training at Ubud Yoga House, which is located in the middle of a beautiful, quiet rice field. This is a small boutique studio that offers teacher training with a very small group of students, setting it apart from the bigger commercial yoga schools that run large trainings every month. Sheila, the owner of Ubud Yoga House, taught us yoga philosophy, meditation, and other topics drawn from her own life experiences. She also customizes the classes and daily journal prompts to meet her students where they are in life, which made everything feel so personal.
Because of the small class size, we got a lot of individual attention from each teacher and had the space to ask as many questions as we needed. All the teachers we had were really great—knowledgeable, supportive, and passionate. They brought their own unique perspectives to the training, which made the learning process feel rich and well-rounded. We didn’t just learn how to teach correct asanas, adjustments, and cues, or the basics of yoga anatomy- we also learned how we can apply this ancient yoga philosophy into our lives in ways that lead to self-realization.
Our group was made up of seven women from all over the world, and I loved how we supported each other. We were all at different stages of life, different ages, different cultures and with different stories, but it felt like we were on this journey together, lifting each other up every step of the way.
I’m so happy I chose Ubud Yoga House for my training, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly personalized experience.

I had the most incredible experience in Ubud Yoga House in Bali, sharing this 200h YTT with wonderful people from all over the world, fantastic teachers, and very good vibes. Right in the middle of the Ricefields, Ubud Yoga House is the perfect place either to take some yoga classes, either to train yourself to become a teacher. I got physically thrilled, but also mentally and spiritually. I totally recommend it 😉

Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) August 2024
My journey with UYH has been nothing short of magical.
During a short trip in Ubud, UYH caught our eye with its tucked-away sanctuary-like environment and organic reviews that felt like it was going to be a less commercialised studio.
My very first class was Nicole’s 9 am Vinyasa (little did I know it was gonna be one of dozens to come!). Her class was absolutely amazing, I remember thinking to myself that it was the best class I’ve ever experienced in my years of going in and out of yoga. Her sequence had a natural flow, and her high energy demeanour undoubtedly lighted up the room, but the key for me was her empathy as she observed keenly and adjusted sequences/tips according to the profile of the class each time. She truly embodied the mantra “yoga for every body”. It wasn’t until later on when I understood that her expertise was the fruition of both her natural talent in teaching, as well as years of hard work behind the scenes in honing her craft. The best part is, I would later realise that Nicole was a representation of the team of extremely talented teachers at UYH.
I came across the Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) students after the class and was keen but wasn’t sure when I’d be able to set aside a month for it. Nicole left me with the message “When you’re ready, you’ll know”. I kept it in mind.
Little did I know, an opportunity came by just a few months later and I joined the Aug 2024 YTT.
Looking back, I deeply appreciated how genuine the teachers/staff were, and the personas of those whom the studio attracts.
It was clear from the start that the focus was on the precision/flow/mastery of the asanas, in-depth introspection/connection with the self, and finding alignment between the body and mind. It was less of the ‘voo-voo’ stuff, as one may say.
Trainers are evidently very experienced, and there was a good mix of expertise amongst them across vinyasa, Iyengar, yin, and restorative, and each of them taught exactly what they were experts in. Theoretical (study of yoga) and anatomy classes were in-depth and well customised to the needs of the classroom as well.
I believe in choosing the right studio that suits your tastebuds, and for me, it was definitely the right choice to do this with Ubud Yoga House.
If you’re considering a YTT with UYH, or just curious to learn from an ex-student’s POV, I’m happy for you to reach out personally and I can share more.
(My partner came by to shoot for us on our graduation day - enjoy the photos below!)

I completed the YTT course in August 2024.
I chose Ubud Yoga House because it is a small group so I thought I could learn more intensively.
Now that I have completed the course, I love yoga even more. The beginning was yoga and the end was love. I learned that yoga is not just the end of movements (poses).
I would like to thank Sheila and Nicole.
If I go back to Bali, I will visit Ubud Yoga House again.
It hasn't been long since I finished, but I already miss Sheila and Nicole.🙏🏻 (I miss Kuching too😻😻)

This May I did my 200h Yoga Teacher Training at Ubud Yoga House and absolutely loved the experience. I got to know Ubud Yoga House and some of its teachers last year on our honeymoon journey to Bali. As I absolutely fell in love with this place and the people, it was clear for me to come back here for my YTT. I have learned a lot during the three weeks from many experienced teachers and would definitely recommend it. Special shoutout to Sheila, who cares very much about every student's well-being, also outside the training, and Nicole, a very talented Yoga teacher who always finds the right wise words for any situation. I am missing Ubud Yoga House and my fellow Yogis every day and hoping for a 300h YTT in the future. I would absolutely sign up.

I was apprehensive about committing to this training but I am so glad that I did, it has been one of the best experiences of my life I consider myself a relative yoga novice; I didn't do the course specifically to train to teach yoga, more to develop my own practice, but even though I was older, less fit and less flexible than any of my peers I was still able to learn and participate in all aspects of the course. UYH pride themselves on providing 'yoga for every body' and I can attest that this is true - everybody is made to feel welcome and encouraged to accept where they and their body is at, whilst being open to the possibility of evolution and progress.
The standard of the teaching on the course was phenomenal and the expertise of the teachers was second to none. More than this all of the teachers were very approachable, open and generous with their time and knowledge, and they seemed genuinely interested in our development, both as students and teachers of yoga. Whilst all teacher training programs have to be commercially viable at no point did I feel like this was a purely commercial enterprise, our group was small (and group size never exceeds 12) so there was always a fantastic teacher to student ratio, and everyone involved in the programme was very committed to ensuring we had the best experience and ample opportunities to learn and develop.
We met daily (and often twice daily) with Sheila, the wise, astute course leader, for meditation, guided journaling and sessions on yogic philosophy and self development. She encouraged us to think critically and consider how what we were learning applied to our daily lives, without ever being dogmatic or prescriptive. She was also very receptive to our feedback and used this to structure our timetable.
Nicole, in addition to being a phenomenally talented and inspiring vinyasa teacher, was a constant source of support and was always on hand to encourage/comfort/console/trouble shoot.
Sandi delivered teaching sessions on precise asana alignment, and classes that pushed us all to discover new limits of physical and mental strength, with long holds and a lot of deep breathing!
Nina is a beautiful soul and her classes were tailored to whatever we needed at the time, be that encouragement to push through fatigue (maybe with the help of some pranayama!) or a more restorative session.
Anatomy teaching by physiotherapist and yoga teacher Michael was fantastic, clear, relevant and really tailored to our needs and with ample time to ask questions and discuss.
Nico, a warm, wise and perceptive teacher inspired us with his flexibility and creative flows and made the goal of attaining arm balances and headstands a possibility, (even if not right now, then in the future with his carefully articulated drills!)
In addition we got to practice with and learn from other teachers from the school in their open classes - so thank you Ketut, Yudi and Arik.
All of this was delivered in the most beautiful location, amongst peaceful rice fields and outside the madness and chaos of central Ubud,(although this was only a short walk or bike ride away, should you want a bit more stimulation, or an excellent massage!).
The 200 hour YTT is a sizable commitment, both in terms of time and financial outlay but I felt the course at UYH was worth every penny. Other students clearly thought so too and it is a testament to the course that the school welcomes many past YTT students who return to take classes there year after year. I certainly plan to be one of them!

Well, Where to start. I have just completed the May 200hr Yoga Teacher Training session at Ubud Yoga House. A great spot with a superb team. Sheila an Nicole lead most of the session with some of the best teaches joining and delivering multiple 'Asana lab' and workshop sessions. The real outstanding element for me was the group size. Unlinke some of the outhe centres that have up to 30 people, we had 5. It was very intimate and we got lots of hands on attention. I was recommended UYH but a dear friend who had just completed a 2 week 'yoga' holiday to Bali and he had said this was his favourite spot. The location in Ubud is fantastic. Thank you Shiela, Nicole and the entire team it was a n absolute pleasure.

It was the best decision of my life to study at Ubud Yoga House. I am delighted! Individual approach, small groups, excellent teachers. The intensity of the program, support and love, this is what makes studying at this center wonderful. Sheila is an excellent teacher who knows how to feel the group, its needs, follow the group and at the same time convey knowledge easily, captivatingly with warmth and love. Her knowledge, her love for people and life were inspiring. I cannot describe in words what I lived during these 3 weeks. my experience of these three weeks is the most valuable thing I received in this life, it became the foundation of my new life. Learning from such teachers is a great gift from the Universe!

I came to find good yoga training, time and space for myself to rejuvenate and learn, in a beautiful environment surrounded by the sights, sounds, smells and rhythm of nature. Here’s what I found:
*Tip: Must read to the end for the ⭐️BONUS⭐️!!
- Peace, lightness, joy, strength. Everyday.
- Zen master Kucing (the resident cat) and all the lovable animals in the surrounding village area.
- Incredible beauty in the rice fields, tropical fruit/trees/flowers, mountains in the distance, friendly local people…

- BONUS: Finding some lifelong friends!!! It’s such a privilege to meet and connect with a diverse group of fellow practitioners of all ages and backgrounds from around the world. The mutual acceptance, respect, support and kindness blew me away 🤩

I thought a lot until I came here to do YTT(Yoga Teacher Training).
Actually rather than being a yoga teacher, I came here to learn more detail and deeper about yoga that I have been doing for more than six years.
It was the best choice of my life, and I had the best time.
The biggest advantage of Yoga Ubud House is that not only the yoga teaching training is held on a small group but also we can do yoga while listening to the sounds of nature, seeing the green rice fields.
The yoga I did was focused only on physical movements. But the physical movement(asana) is just a part of yoga, calming mind and finding my true self and happiness is a real goal of yoga.
I came here with love for yoga, but everything is changed. I may not become a yoga teacher right now, but I want to share my love for yoga to others someday.

Attending the yoga teacher training course here was a wise decision. I encountered exceptional yoga teachers and gained wonderful yoga companions who have become my lifelong friends. Moreover, I found inner peace through the practice in Ubud yoga house. This place taught me that yoga is not just about physical postures but extends beyond. I am truly grateful and happy for this experience
