This YTT course was everything I needed and more. We were a small group of women, all ages, color, walks of life and levels of yoga. I learned almost as much from my gorgeous peers as I did from the gifted yoga teachers training us. The straightforward lesson plans were very strategically executed to quickly lead up to more challenging material without the students realizing it. I was very impressed with the way hand/head stand poses were taught – never having done poses in this category, I didn’t expect to successfully achieve several before midday with such ease – and being/feeling completely safe. This topic was further supported with an anatomy class in the afternoon.
There was perfect balance between learning and breaks, physical activity and lectures, new information and reviewing. The staff is just phenomenal.. one of the reasons I decided to sign up for the course is because of Nicole’s cuing.. I was able to do her entire class with my eyes closed without being over cued!! Nina’s motivation, sense of humor and down to earth vibe, was everything; she truly embodies that yoga is for everybody and I now feel confident identifying which body part is causing a student to struggle with a particular pose and how to accommodate. Sandy’s alignment classes tremendously improved my personal practice – and Katut somehow made my hamstrings more flexible in under 30 seconds?? Still trying to back track how he did that..
We were exposed to vinyasa, hatha, yin, and restorative yoga and well as meditation, breathwork and sound healing. We explored Yogic traditions, history and how yoga is used as medicine.
Each of us were able to teach an hour sequence by the end of the course! We were given the freedom to be creative with our presentation, pace, explore our own cuing voices and felt comfortable in our ability to adjust students vocally/physically into correct alignment.
Breakfast was provided for us at a nearby café with fresh organic ingredients and fruits every morning –
The setting of our training was UNREAL – a beautiful house with an upstairs shala overlooking the green rice field terraces, giant butterflies flying in and out, tropical flowers, and a pathway decorated with a row of bright yellow Balinese ceremonial umbrellas. As the YTT takes place in Bali, the course honors Balinese culture which made it extra special; beginning and closing training with ceremonies in traditional Balinese attire, throwing a mandala made of flowers into the air.. I loved and value every minute of this training and would hop straight back into a second course if it were offered.
