Yoga Alliance Syllabus

Yoga Practice: 100 hours:

Daily yoga practice and exploration of different styles of yoga including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Yin, & Restorative yoga. The basic yoga poses and yoga styles will be explored and practiced with hands on teacher adjustment for proper alignment and appropriate ways to modify yoga postures using blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets

Teaching Methodology: 25 hours:

Based on sound educational research & pedagogy, Sheila’s 30 years of teaching experience, and highly qualified teachers at the Ubud Yoga House, students will explore finding their teaching voice, the qualities and skills of a good teacher, how to create a “safe” learning environment, appropriate language for instruction and how to sequence a yoga class for Every Body with the use of hands on adjustments and props.

Anatomy & Physiology: 20 hours:

Students will study anatomy and physiology as it relates to yoga in an interactive fun way with hands on demonstrations making it easy to understand the basic anatomical structures. Anatomy is studied in the context of yoga and how yoga postures tone the muscles, tissues, ligaments, and joints and help maintain healthy bones. This knowledge will be applied to optimize yoga practice and avoid injuries. Students will learn the benefits of yoga and its effect on the functioning of various internal systems including respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive, excretory, reproductive, and hormonal systems. Beyond the physical body students will also examine the energy body exploring chakras, meridians, mudras, mantras and breath-work.

Yoga Philosophy: 30 hours:

The history, meaning, purpose, & philosophy of yoga will be studied through readings, films, video clips and lively interactive discussions. Students will study the basic philosophy of yoga focusing on the primary aim of yoga, which is to join the mind and the body through physical postures and meditation in order to know our inner self. The goal of yoga is harmony between the body, mind and spirit (authentic self). Students will study the 8 limbs of yoga which include the study of morals and ethics, physical yoga postures, breathing and meditation techniques.

Practicum: 10 hours:

Students will begin teaching the basic standing, seated and reclining postures during the first few days with a focus on two or three specific postures each day. Students will have the opportunity to begin “small” by teaching one posture at a time and gradually building up to teaching a one hour class to the teacher training students.

Electives: 15 hours:

Reading, self practice, writing, etc. Hours accumulated outside of teacher training hours as ‘non-contact’ hours.

The yoga studio boasts a beautiful setting, nestled amidst rice paddies with a river flowing alongside the classrooms.

The teachers are professional, and there are two classes daily. You’ll feel refreshed and invigorated after each session!

There are also free Indonesian language classes every Wednesday. Don’t miss it when you visit Bali! 😝

Had a morning yoga class with Pak Ketut. It was a great yoga class with some good laughs in between , with beautiful view and good experienced and new yogi to practise with.

Walking distance if you stay at Ubud centre, many cute eateries nearby, and the yoga class fee was IDR185k per class. Worth it and highly recommended. 🙂

I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training course here and it was beyond my expectations 🦋✨

The classes and instruction were incredibly thoughtful. We had a small group of 5 people and the experience was intimate and woven beautifully with yoga philosophy and experiencing local Balinese culture. The authenticity and teachers really blew me away.

I felt truly welcomed by all of the teachers. The lead instructor Sheila welcomed us into her home. Her workshops were thoughtful and engaging on yoga practice and philosophy. Nicole, another teacher in the program brought so much energy and passion to our classes together. Her love for teaching and yoga truly inspired me! And lastly, Sandi who taught the Asana labs was one of the best experiences of the program. His classes were challenging and pushed me deeper into my practice. I never thought I could something like this, but it was exactly what I needed. I’m so grateful to Ubud Yoga House for this unforgettable experience.

I just completed my Yoga Teacher Training in April at Ubud Yoga House, and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life.

If you’re looking for something authentic that truly respects Balinese culture far from the overly commercialized studios you often find in Ubud this is the place to go.

The groups are small, which makes the whole experience feel very personal and supportive. You’re not just another student, you’re really guided, seen, and encouraged throughout the entire journey.

Most of the teachers are Indonesian, which made the experience even more meaningful. We didn’t just learn poses , we learned the philosophy behind yoga. This is not “Instagram yoga,” this is real yoga.

The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by nature, and it creates the perfect environment to fully immerse yourself and learn so much, both physically and mentally.

A huge thank you to Nicole, who was incredible from beginning to end. She supported us, pushed us when needed, and really helped build our confidence. And of course, Sheila, the owner, who truly took us under her wing and shared her knowledge and wisdom with so much generosity.

And we can’t forget Kucing the studio’s little mascot 🐾

I couldn’t recommend this experience more 🤍

Amazing 200-hour YTT at Ubud Yoga House — what a journey!
I came as a beginner… and somehow ended up a Bhakti yoga teacher! ✨
Ubud Yoga House is in the best spot ever—right in the middle of rice fields, nature everywhere, 🌺🌾🍃and their cat Kucing is basically the cutest boss of the place. 🥰

The classes here are so much more than just learning yoga poses. We go deep into every posture, every alignment, and I love it. And the mindfulness meditation? My absolute fave. It helps me connect with my body, mind, and even my soul. Everything we need is already inside us. ✨🎆
Sheila, our lead teacher, is like a living wisdom library. Every workshop with her helps me find more pieces of myself. And sharing with my classmates created such deep connections. I love her with my whole heart.❤️🥰

Teacher Nicole is pure love and sunshine. I always have so much fun in her classes. She helped me tons during the teaching practice and made me feel brave enough to show my true self. She made me realize… being myself is already enough. I hope one day I can shine with the same love and light she does.🥰😇

Teacher Sandi’s classes? SO challenging but in the most exciting way. His alignment corrections feel amazing, and his fun, playful teaching style pushes me past my limits every single time. 🤣😜
Sera’s classes are cute, lively, and full of good vibes. She’s always ready to help us.👍😘
And Michale and Nico also taught me so, so much.

I feel stronger and stable everyday ! I’m so grateful for the amazing partners and teachers I met on this journey. They took such good care of me and supported me all the way through my YTT 👏🙏

Ubud Yoga House isn’t just a yoga school for me—it feels like my home in Ubud. 🏡🌿
If you’re looking for inner growth, want to become a yoga teacher, or just want an unforgettable yoga experience—this is 100% the best place in Ubud. 🥰🌈

If I can do it, then honestly anyone can! Yoga is for everyone here 🥰🌺
